JetBioTech-P announced that it has entered into a strategic collaboration with Eli Lilly and Company (Lilly) focused on the research and discovery of novel lipid nanoparticle delivery solutions aimed at enabling tissue-specific delivery of therapeutics. The group will receive an upfront payment of over ten million U.S. dollars and is eligible to receive development, regulatory, and commercial milestone payments totaling up to approximately $1.1 billion, as well as tiered, single-digit percentage royalties based on the annual net sales of products arising from the collaboration.
The group stated it will leverage its ionizable lipid discovery and optimization platform, AiLNP, to develop next-generation delivery technologies with enhanced potential for lipid nanoparticle delivery targeting and biodistribution. Lilly will contribute its expertise in drug discovery, development, and commercialization. Lipid nanoparticles have become a method for delivering therapeutic payloads to target tissues and cells.
