There were 715 short-selling stocks. BABA-W (09988) and XIAOMI-W (01810) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$7.48 billion and HK$4.42 billion, or 13.96% and 8.24% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented 27.73% and 20.23% of respective stock's turnover.
MEITUAN-W (03690) and TENCENT (00700) registered HK$3.39 billion and HK$3.03 billion of short sales, accounting for 6.33% and 5.66% of the total short sales values respectively. The transactions represented 19.72% and 14.99% of respective stock's turnover.
BABA-W closed up HK$6.3, or 4.82%, to HK$136.9. XIAOMI-W ended up HK$3.1, or 5.83%, to HK$56.3. MEITUAN-W rose HK$15.6, or 9.84% to HK$174.2. TENCENT jumped HK$16.7, or 3.44%, to HK$501.5.
