[ET Net News Agency, 2 May 2025] Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was HK$78.31 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$10.4 billion, or 13.28% of the market's turnover. There were 649 short-selling stocks. HSCEI ETF (02828) and XIAOMI-W (01810) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$1.14 billion and HK$763.38 million, or 10.96% and 7.34% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented 20.42% and 19.4% of respective stock's turnover.
BABA-W (09988) and XI2CSOPHSTECH (07552) registered HK$723.78 million and HK$668.89 million of short sales, accounting for 6.96% and 6.43% of the total short sales values respectively. The transactions represented 13.94% and 72.49% of respective stock's turnover.
HSCEI ETF closed up HK$1.48, or 1.78%, to HK$84.52. XIAOMI-W ended up HK$2.75, or 5.51%, to HK$52.7. BABA-W rose HK$4.9, or 4.17% to HK$122.4. XI2CSOPHSTECH declined by HK$0.13, or 6.67%, to HK$1.82.
