[ET Net News Agency, 23 May 2018] HSBC Global Research cited its Macau gaming industry
sources indicating that first 20 days of May yielded MOP17.3bn in gross gaming revenue
(GGR).
This implies an average daily run rate (ADR) of MOP942m/day for the past week, compared
with MOP728m/day the week before and MOP692m/day for the same period last year. Luck
played a role; month-to-date win rate dropped to 2.8% (versus 2.95% last week) based on
HSBC's estimates.
By segment, HSBC estimated that mass GGR is up 2-3% compared with the April daily
average while VIP volume is around 3-5% higher. By operator, Galaxy, Melco and Sands
seemed to have gained shares from the rest.
The research house expects full month GGR to come in at MOP26.7bn-26.9bn (+17-18% y-y),
factoring in better recovery last week. HSBC's estimate implies MOP850-870m/day for the
rest of the month. (KL)
