[ET Net News Agency, 18 September 2018] On 14 September, National Energy Administration
(NEA) released a consultation paper on promoting grid parity for wind and solar power.
According to the paper, certain areas with good resources, low construction costs and good
market conditions are able to build subsidy-free wind and solar farms at the same tariff
level as coal power.
These projects can be approved by the provincial-level government and do not need the
NEA quota any more.
Daiwa Research believes this document reflects the government's longer-term target with
little near-term impact on existing policies on wind & solar power. Projects that require
subsidies are still subject to previously announced regulations. (KL)
