[ET Net News Agency, 15 November 2019] Goldman Sachs lifted its target price for SMIC
(00981) to HK$12.8 from HK$11.5 and maintained its "buy" rating.
The research house raised its EPS estimates by 135%/67%/29% in 2019-21, on the back of
better results/guidance and stronger demand for mature nodes. Goldman said its key
takeaways from the earnings call are (1) solid progress of 14nm, 12nm, N+1 node, (2)
stronger growth for 2020, and (3) stronger demand for mature nodes to be driven by CIS,
PMIC, NOR, fingerprint, and Bluetooth.
Goldman said these factors reaffirm its positive view on SMIC with accelerating
technology migration and semiconductor localization driving stronger earnings growth in
2020-21. (KL)
