[ET Net News Agency, 16 July 2020] HSBC Global Asset Management today announced the
appointment of Caroline Maurer as Head of Chinese and Hong Kong Equities, effective
September 2020.
In this new role, subject to regulatory approval1, Maurer will be leading a team of
portfolio managers and analysts based in Hong Kong to manage offshore and onshore Chinese
equity assets in excess of US$7 billion.
She will report to Bill Maldonado, Chief Investment Officer, Asia-Pacific at HSBC Global
Asset Management. Maurer has been working in the asset management industry for 13 years
and was most recently Head of Greater China Equities at BNP Paribas Asset Management,
where she managed offshore and onshore Chinese equity mandates for five years. Prior to
that, she managed Chinese equity funds for Henderson Global Investors in London and
Singapore.
In addition, HSBC Jintrust Fund Management Company Limited, a joint venture between HSBC
(00005) Global Asset Management and Shanxi Trust Company Limited, has appointed Lihua
Huang as Head of Active Equity to lead its Shanghai-based team of equity investment
managers, effective June 2020.
Based in Shanghai, Huang reports to Michael Zheng, Head of Investment at HSBC Jintrust
and has been collaborating closely with the HK-based team at HSBC Global Asset Management.
Huang has 13 years of experience in managing Chinese equity assets and was an Executive
Director of Financial Markets Department in CITIC Private Equity Funds Investment prior to
joining HSBC Jintrust. (KL)
