[ET Net News Agency, 25 May 2018] Jefferies Research said China Mobile's (00941) launch
of a joint product (WeSIM) with Tencent Holdings (00700) last week raised concern whether
China Unicom's (00762) cooperation with Tencent is no longer an advantage.
The research house said WeSim is not "integrated" with Tencent at all, since it only
combines Mobile's domestic data service with Tencent's global roaming product based on
eSIM (embed SIM card) tech, which has been around for two years.
WeSim is more expensive than Unicom/Tencent's joint product (but flexible), and requires
a 2-year contract.
