[ET Net News Agency, 14 February 2018] Air China (00753) said it carried about 8.59
million passengers in January, an increase of 0.5% month-on-month and 2.1% year-on-year.
Passenger capacity (measured by available seat kilometers (the ASK)) and passenger
traffic recorded a year-on-year increase of 7.6% and 4% respectively in January. The
overall passenger load factor was 79%, representing a decrease of 2.8 percentage points as
compared to the same period last year.
In terms of cargo operations, in January, cargo capacity (measured by available freight
tonne kilometers (AFTK)) rose 7.3% year-on-year. Cargo and mail traffic picked up 19% and
the volume of cargo and mail carried increased 13.6% as compared to the same period last
year. The cargo load factor was 55.2% in January, representing a year-on-year increase of
5.5 percentage points. (HL)
