[ET Net News Agency, 18 November 2019] Air China Limited (00753) said in October 2019,
the group maintained growth in combined passenger traffic (measured by revenue passenger
kilometres (the RPK)) as compared to the same period last year and to the same period last
month. Passenger capacity (measured by available seat kilometres (the ASK)) and passenger
traffic recorded a year-on-year increase of 2.0% and 2.8% respectively. For domestic
routes, both of passenger capacity and passenger traffic increased by 2.8% as compared to
the same period last year. For international routes, passenger capacity and passenger
traffic increased by 1.4% and 4.6% respectively, as compared to the same period last year.
Passenger capacity on regional routes decreased by 3.8%, and passenger traffic recorded a
decrease of 14.1%, as compared to the same period last year. The overall passenger load
factor was 81.6%, representing an increase of 0.6 percentage points as compared to the
same period last year. The domestic routes remained the same year-on-year, the
international routes increased by 2.4 percentage points and the passenger load factor for
regional routes decreased by 8.3 percentage points.
In terms of cargo operations, in October 2019, cargo capacity (measured by available
freight tonne kilometres (the AFTK)) decreased by 3.9% year-on-year. Cargo and mail
traffic (measured by revenue freight tonne kilometres (the RFTK)) decreased by 6.3% as
compared to the same period last year, the volume of cargo and mail carried decreased by
2.5% as compared to the same period last year. The cargo load factor was 46.0%,
representing a year-on-year decrease of 1.2 percentage points. (RC)
