Langham Place, Mong Kok | Taste. Move Dance Festival 2026
Description
The Hong Kong Dance Alliance (HKDA, abbreviated as “Dance Alliance”) will launch the grand dance event “Taste. Move Dance Festival 2026” Dance Series: Moving Menu from November 5 to 8, 2026 (four consecutive days) at Langham Place, Mong Kok. Themed “Dance Feast,” this event presents a uniquely Hong Kong-style dance banquet, adding dynamism to urban life. This feast transforms the iconic Langham Place in Mong Kok into a dynamic stage, breaking through the four walls of traditional theaters and stepping into the bustling city, inviting all Hong Kong residents, tourists, and art lovers to savor the city’s pulse from a fresh perspective and experience the profound connection between body and space. This event is fully supported by Langham Place and collaboratively sponsored by Eaton Club, a long-term creative partner of HKDA, for all event venues.
Four distinct “dance delicacies”
Lin Wei, Chairperson of the Hong Kong Dance Alliance, said: “‘Taste. Move Dance Festival 2026’ breaks through the spatial limitations of traditional theaters, bringing dance art into the bustling Langham Place in Mong Kok. We hope to use the concept of ‘Dance Feast (Moving Menu)’ to allow residents and tourists to experience the diversity of dance in their daily lives in a relaxed manner, reconnecting with the city’s artistic pulse through the connection between body and space.”
This dance festival meticulously curates four major programs, including professional dance performances, an open stage for public enjoyment, cross-disciplinary workshops, and dance film screenings. Participating dance artists are all local dance elites and outstanding dance troupes. Additionally, HKDA specially invited four active local dance artists and groups to serve as guest curators: Blue Ka Wing, Chan Wing Yip, Li Sze Yeung, and Li Wai Neng @ Unlock Dance Theatre, to curate exciting programs for the festival.
Four core program contents:
1. Dance Workshop Series — Exploration of Body and Space (Appetizer)
Five different-dimensional physical workshops guide the public to break through the boundaries of vision and body, requiring no prior experience to participate:
“Dance × Photography: Wandering Between Movement and Stillness” (Instructor: Terry Tsang) [HKD$200]
“Between Bodies: Thai Massage × Partner Dance Exploration” (Instructor: May Au) [HKD$250]
“Breath and Flow: Tai Chi × Body Exploration Workshop” (Instructor: Rex Cheng) [HKD$250]
“From Viewing to Filming: Dance Film Workshop” (Special Edition of “Peak Hour in the House”) (Instructor: Blue Ka Wing) [HKD$250]
“Waacking Basic Techniques Workshop: Dance Your Rhythm and Personality” (Instructor: Ho Tung) [HKD$180]

2. Dance Performances — Gathering Top Talent (Main Course)
Focusing on the main stage at Langham Place’s 4th-floor atrium, this program gathers Hong Kong’s top professional dance troupes, institutions, and independent artists to present a live visual feast spanning ballet, modern dance, Chinese dance, street dance, and circus dance:
Chan Wing Yip and LuenMo lead a group of outstanding street dancers to deliver energetic and impactful street dance performances; meanwhile, Li Sze Yeung selects two contemporary dance works that have previously exhibited overseas and won awards (created by young choreographers Kammy Lau and Cynthia & Algo), showcasing the unique aesthetics of Hong Kong contemporary dance to the public. Professional troupes including the City Contemporary Dance Company, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Hong Kong Dance Company, and Unlock Dance Theatre will jointly present the main stage feast.
Beyond the main stage, artists will break the boundaries of fixed stages to deliver surprising site-specific performances — featured artist Kit & Friends present visually striking circus dance; choreographer Leung Kin Fung (Common Ground) collaborates with dancers Lau Yin, Lok Cheuk Yi, and Yau Sin Hang on a joint creation; and students from the School of Dance at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts will present improvisational performances, allowing audiences to encounter dance unexpectedly in various corners of the mall.
3. Public Participation Segment — Open Stage for Collective Joy (Dessert)
Dance is not only for appreciation but also for collective celebration! HKDA previously invited local dance troupes through open recruitment to participate in “Mass Dance” and “Free Dance,” allowing dance enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds to take the stage, breaking the distance between art and the public and concluding this feast with a sweet, perfect ending.
4. Dance Film Screenings and Post-Screening Talks — Bodily Aesthetics on Screen (Beverage & Digestif)
Three locally produced dance films with unique styles, all exploring the theme of “home,” will be screened. A special post-screening artist talk (Meet-the-Artists) will be held, featuring curator Blue Ka Wing and choreographer/director Tan-Ki Wong in in-depth conversations with the audience.
Screened films: “Peak Hour in the House” (Director/Choreographer: Blue Ka Wing), “Mountain and Sea Flow” (Director: Wong Hon Leung / Choreographer: Blue Ka Wing), and “Returning Home” (Director/Choreographer: Tan-Ki Wong).
