Cleanse the dust and dirt outside and cleanse the heart dirt inside
More than 2,500 years ago, Prince Siddhartha was born under the Bodhi tree. After realizing the sufferings of birth, aging, sickness and death in the world, he resolutely gave up the throne at the age of 29 to become a monk. He practiced asceticism for six years, drinking only water and eating only one grain of hemp and one grain of rice every day. He became skinny and looked as if he was lying on a pile of eggs. Later, because he felt that asceticism was of no benefit in achieving liberation, he accepted the offerings of the shepherdess and went to Bodh Gaya to continue his practice. Under the Bodhi tree, the Buddha sat in meditation for seven days and seven nights and attained enlightenment. He then preached to the public for forty-nine years before finally entering Nirvana between the twin sal trees.
And to express gratitude to the Buddha for his wish to seek happiness for all rather than for himself, and for setting an example for us to practice and the direction for the Bodhisattva Path. Tsz Shan Monastery will hold an open day on Buddha's Birthday from May 3rd to 5th, welcoming people from all walks of life to come to the temple to bathe the Buddha and study, "purify the worldly affairs without, and purify the heart within". Relying on the special significance of the Buddha's birthday and the public's willingness to listen to the Dharma and practice, we pray for world peace, the elimination of disasters, social prosperity and stability, and the revival of all industries.
During the open day, Tsz Shan Monastery will hold three "Buddha's Birthday Bathing Dharma Ceremony" sessions every day and provide vegetarian food. We welcome you to make an appointment with your relatives and friends to attend the ceremony, to remember the Master's kindness, to cultivate blessings, and to celebrate the auspicious day from afar!
