Thank you for your warm support! Since the premiere of "Satay Beef and Hokkien Mee" presented by SY Performative Arts (SYPA) and Yang Shumin, tickets have been sold out quickly and it has become a hot topic on social media and in the media. As the previously added shows have been widely praised, the audience has given high praise to this interactive experience that combines "eating, cooking, drinking and listening". We are honored to announce that four more shows will be added on April 6, 13, 19 and 20, 2025. Registration and ticket purchase are now open. We sincerely invite you to embark on this journey of blending delicious food and art!
"Satay Beef and Hokkien Mee" is not only a feast for the eyes and taste, but also a spiritual journey of memory and cultural exploration. During the performance, the audience will not only enjoy a four-course light dinner cooked by the actors on the spot, but also enjoy the perfect combination of live music and performance. Behind each dish is a story, allowing you to share your love for food with the actors, feel the deep connection between culture and emotion, and feel the emotional resonance conveyed by each flavor, breaking the boundaries of traditional theater and bringing a refreshing sensory enjoyment.
The performance line-up includes Hong Kong Drama Award Best Supporting Actor Stephen Sze, Madrid International Film Festival Best Supporting Actress Yeung Suk Man, and talented musical accompanist Jason Szeto, and will team up with homebrown café & bistro in Kowloon City to bring a unique dining experience.
This early spring, let us explore the profound connection between food, culture and identity through the stories behind each dish. Billy Sy, founder of SY Performative Arts, said: “We hope to immerse the audience in a poetic and delicious world. Food is not only nourishment, but also a carrier of memory. SYPA not only explores the diversity of performances, but is also passionate about the connection between culture, identity, memory, migration, food and sound. We look forward to continuing to explore this profound connection with everyone.” Last August, SYPA transformed the homebrown café & bistro in Kowloon City into a unique food theater for the first time, allowing the audience to experience an unprecedented sensory feast, which received numerous praises.
The performance will be held at homebrown café & bistro at 8 Lion Rock Road, Kowloon City. This community gathering place full of creativity and art atmosphere will bring an unforgettable experience to every participant. Ms. Huang, owner of homebrown café & bistro, said she is looking forward to working together again: "Satay Beef & Hokkien Mee combines SYPA's performance art with the unique atmosphere of our small shop, and combines art and food to create an unforgettable experience for participants. We believe that there is a wonderful connection between art and food, which can touch people's hearts and awaken deep emotions and memories."
The opportunity to add more performances of "Satay Beef and Hokkien Mee" is rare, and we sincerely invite you to explore this exciting new food theater experience with us!
