For Earth Hour this year, WWF-Hong Kong is thrilled to have singer Kaho Hung and Ian Chan (from MIRROR) as the event ambassadors. The duo will be featured in the event trailer themed “GIVE AN H①UR FOR EARTH” and officiate the lights-off ceremony in the evening of March 22, 2025.
This year’s Earth Hour Activities have already commenced with an eco-journey at Island House Conservation Studies Centre. Preluding the lights-off ceremony on March 22 is the annual Earth Hour Carnival held at the Ocean Terminal Deck at Harbour City on the same afternoon. Not only can you find creative workshops and interactive educational booths, performances such as thought-provoking stand-up talk and inspiring children’s musical will also be introduced this year. These allow the public to understand the importance of conservation and take the first steps towards sustainable living.
Interactive educational workshop and booth at Earth Hour Carnival
Held at the Ocean Terminal Deck at Harbour City on 22 March, the Earth Hour Carnival this year introduces three performances, including the Children's Gala Performance led by the beloved kids’ TV host Isaac Ng, where a group of lively children will bring you a meaningful and eco-conscious opener at the Earth Hour Carnival. Then, through the “Give an Hour for Music” mini concert, two talented independent singers, Mic Chow and Mark Chan, will share their passion for both music and the environment. There will also be the “½ Earth Hour” Standup Show, where Hong Kong’s very own standup comedian Tim Chan will explore the complexities of environmental happenings and invite the audience for an improv. In these immersive experiences, audience will learn how a small environmental effort in their daily life will make a big impact on our planet.
In addition, WWF collaborates with two local partners to deliver a creative workshop and other educational activities. With St. James’ Creation, a creative hub for ceramic art in Hong Kong, ceramists Lau Sze O and Hung Ming Him will teach participants the hand-building techniques to create three sets of animal sculptures, including the Golden Coin Turtle, Dalmatian Pelican, and Staghorn Corals together. This helps the public to understand more about nature. The art creation from the ’MusiCLAY’ project, which blends ceramic art with music, will also be showcased at the Earth Hour Carnival. It allows participants to engage with art in a dynamic way, thereby reawakening and activating every sense through such an unprecedented ’Play Music, Play Clay’ experience.
Furthermore, a pop-up repair station run by Repair Café HK will be set up at the Earth Hour Carnival, where participants can learn how to repair old appliances from skilled volunteers and breathe new life into things that would otherwise end up in the landfill.
The Earth Hour Carnival is full of intrigues, where participants will learn the importance of sustainability and explore the benefits of a green lifestyle.
The Earth Hour Lights-off Ceremony will commence at 7:45pm on March 22. Join our guests and ambassadors for this unforgettable occasion as we celebrate our commitment to planet Earth, before we count down with millions worldwide for lights-off at 8:30pm. Circus artist LaiYee, sand artist Edith Wu, and SENZA A Cappella will present spectacular performances, allowing everyone to appreciate the importance of eco-friendly living during the Lights-off Ceremony.
