Asian Citrus (00073) said it expects turnover and core net profit for the six months ended 31 December 2014 will be lower than that in the same period of 2013.
Hepu Plantation suffered extensive damage from the impact of Typhoon Rammasun, the strongest in the region for over 40 years. There was widespread crop loss, resulting in a decrease of approximately 71.1% in comparison to the actual production yield of 24,699 tonnes in the same period last year. The production yield from Xinfeng Plantation has reflected the effect of cryogenic freezing rain and frosts in Xinfeng in early 2014 on the fruit blossom.
The total production yield of winter oranges for the Group decreased from 147,927 tonnes for the corresponding period last year to about 110,993 tonnes in the reporting period, which represents a decrease of around 25%. The average selling price of the Group's winter orange crop was about 2.9% lower compared to the prior year.
Its interim results announcement is expected to be published in late February.
