Hutchison Whampoa (00013) said its exclusive negotiations with Telefonica regarding its proposed acquisition of O2 UK is ongoing.
It added that if and when definitive agreements are signed up, the deal will remain subject to the obtaining of all requisite regulatory approvals.
The UK-based Financial Times reported that Hutchison Whampoa will finalise a deal to buy O2 in the UK from Spain's Telefonica for close to GBP10.5bn as early as Tuesday morning.
