HK stocks closed weaker on Friday morning session following the fresh record close of the Dow overnight, which has risen for ninth consecutive trading days. The benchmark index opened unchanged at 24,115. It then gradually moved lower, and at one stage to an intra-day low of 23,958.
The Hang Seng Index ended down 83 points or 0.3% to 24,031. The H-share index fell 70 points or 0.7% to 10,450. Half-day turnover decreased slightly to HK$45.8 billion from HK$45.9 billion on Thursday.
Fourteen stocks rose and 30 fell among the 50 blue chips, with six remaining flat.
CK Hutchison (00001) jumped 3% to HK$95.25 after it announced its FY2016 pro-forma results for the Wind/3 Italia JV. It was the top blue-chip winner in the morning.
AIA (01299) dipped 0.8% to HK$48.65 after hitting an intra-day high of HK$49.75.
Apple supply-chain stocks saw profit taking selling. Sunny Optical (02382) plunged 5.9% to HK$49.85 despite Credit Suisse raised its target price to HK$61.8. Cowell (01415) softened 2.8% to HK$2.4. AAC Tech (02018) dived 5.2% to HK$82.4. It was the biggest blue-chip loser in the morning.
Local property developers were chased. New World Development (00017) edged up 0.2% to HK$10.12. Sino Land (00083) shot up 1.4% to HK$13.38. CK Property (01113) was unchanged at HK$53.35.
