Hong Kong stocks closed weaker on Wednesday morning session following the small drop of the Dow overnight. The blue-chip index opened up 14 points to 26,771 and briefly rose 32 points to an intra-day high of 26,818. It then gave up all of its gains and fell 294 points at one stage, hitting an intra-day low of 26,491.
The Hang Seng Index ended down 251 points or 0.9% to 26,535. The H-share index fell 84 points or 0.8% to 10,442. Half-day turnover decreased to HK$37 billion from HK$43.6 billion on Tuesday.
Blue chips were mostly weaker. HSBC (00005) softened 0.6% to HK$61.05. HKEX (00388) slipped 0.7% to HK$240.6. Tencent (00700) dipped 1.9% to HK$321.4. China Mobile (00941) fell 1.4% to HK$64.75 after Deutsche Bank's downgrade. AIA (01299) shed 1.2% to HK$74.35.
AAC Technologies (02018) retreated 3.7% to HK$46.9 becoming the worst blue-chip loser. The smartphone component provider yesterday soared 5% on the back of its rival's strong earnings.
