HK stocks closed slightly lower on Tuesday morning session with the benchmark index reversing early gains after China's better-than-expected third quarter GDP growth lifted the index by 161 points at one point.
The Hang Seng Index ended down 57 points to 23,012. The H-share index also dropped 29 points to 10,265. Half-day turnover reduced to HK$27.4bn from HK$29.8bn on Monday.
Market heavyweights were mixed. China Mobile (00941) slid 2.05% to HK$90.95 as its third quarter earnings dropped 12% year-on-year due to VAT, while HSBC (00005) nudged up 0.19% to HK$77.7.
Chun Wo (00711) surged 17.82% to HK$1.19 on the proposed cash offer from China New Way Investment.
Gome (00493) put on 2.42% to HK$1.27 after it issued a postive profit alert.
