HK stocks closed sharply higher on Friday following the strong rally of the major benchmarks in the US after the Fed said it will keep interest rate unchanged for some quarters.
The Hang Seng Index ended up 284 points to 23,116, off an intra-day low of 23,041 and high of 23,189. The H-share index also rose 69 points to 11,400. Turnover reduced slightly to HK$95.7bn from HK$99.6bn on Thursday.
By market close, the southbound quota balance was RMB10.252bn, while the northbound quota balance was RMB11.929bn, accounting for 97.3% and 91% of the daily allowed quotas respectively.
AIA (01299) added 3.4% to HK$42.5. It was the best blue chip performer after Credit Suisse's bullish comments. Tencent (00700) also gained 3.4% to HK$115.7. It was the most active stock with a combined gains of 10% over the past two days.
BYD (01211) staged a rebound, soaring 14.2% to HK$28.6. The stock suffered severe sell-off yesterday.
