Shanghai Electric (02727) said its wholly-owned subsidiary Shanghai Electric Nuclear Power Equipment Co (SENPEC) and AREVA, a company duly organized and existing under the laws of France, have entered into a manufacturing subcontract transaction.
Pursant to the deal, AREVA subcontracted to SENPEC the manufacturing of six steam generators (nuclear island major equipment) using supplied materials. These replacement steam generators will be installed at the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station in South Africa, by AREVA's teams.
This project marks the first step in Shanghai Electric's international development program for nuclear island-related equipment manufacturing.
