HK stocks closed firmer on Tuesday morning session after the US equity markets making gains for three consecutive sessions, with the benchmark index reversing early losses, boosted by Chinese insurers and Tencent.
The Hang Seng Index ended the morning up 70 points to 25,461. The H-share index rose 63 points to 10,438. Half-day turnover reduced to HK$42.1 billion from HK$46.2 billion on Monday.
Market heavyweights were mixed. China Mobile (00941) nudged up 0.06% to HK$86.5, while HSBC (00005) dipped 0.15% to HK$67.6.
Tencent (00700) extended its gain. It put on 1.16% to HK$278.6, after hitting as high as HK$280.6 at one point.
CM Bank (03968) shot up 5.92% to HK$23.25, after Jefferies Research raised its target price for the bank to HK$38.5 from HK$35.9.
Macau gaming players gained broadly after Nomura forecasted the daily average gaming revenue of Macau in the past week rose 26% from the previous week. Galaxy Ent (00027) rose 2.79% to HK$42.3, making itself the largest blue-chip gainer in the morning. Sands China (01928) picked up 1.31% to HK$34.75 while Wynn Macau (01128) put on 2.78% to HK$17.02.
