<ET Net News Agency, 27 July 2011> Wireless technology patent company InterDigital,
Inc. said it has filed a complaint with the US International Trade Commission against
Nokia Corporation, Huawei Technologies and ZTE Corporation (00763) regarding the cellphone
makers’ infringement of seven InterDigital technology patents.
The complaint alleges that the cellphone makers have engaged in unfair trade practices
by making for importation into the United States, importing, and selling after
importation, certain 3G wireless devices, including WCDMA and cdma2000 mobile phones, USB
sticks, mobile hotspots, and tablets, and components of such devices that infringe seven
of InterDigital's US patents.
Foreign newswires cited Huawei spokesman Bill Plummer, saying that his company has not
seen the InterDigital complaint, but was confident of the integrity of Huawei's licensing
and cross licensing practices and would defend itself vigorously.
