Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was HK$72.4 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$10.91 billion, or 15.07% of the market's turnover. There were 643 short-selling stocks. TENCENT (00700) and MEITUAN-W (03690) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$834.7 million and HK$774.1 million, or 7.65% and 7.09% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented 19.1% and 27.87% of respective stock's turnover.
TRACKER FUND (02800) and XI2CSOPHSTECH (07552) registered HK$660.99 million and HK$556.23 million of short sales, accounting for 6.06% and 5.1% of the total short sales values respectively. The transactions represented 23.22% and 67.21% of respective stock's turnover.
TENCENT closed up HK$8.2, or 2.42%, to HK$347.6. MEITUAN-W ended up HK$4.1, or 3.68%, to HK$115.6. TRACKER FUND rose HK$0.37, or 2.11% to HK$17.88. XI2CSOPHSTECH declined by HK$0.48, or 7.25%, to HK$6.14.
