Half-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was HK$69.6 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$7.86 billion, or 11.29% of the market's turnover. There were 614 short-selling stocks. TRACKER FUND (02800) and TENCENT (00700) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$1.42 billion and HK$565.74 million, or 18.05% and 7.2% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented 35.81% and 10.63% of respective stock's turnover.
BANK OF CHINA (03988) and LENOVO GROUP (00992) registered HK$322.41 million and HK$202.97 million of short sales, accounting for 4.1% and 2.58% of the total short sales values respectively. The transactions represented 32.45% and 15.63% of respective stock's turnover.
TRACKER FUND closed up HK$0.1, or 0.52%, to HK$19.45. TENCENT ended up HK$1, or 0.26%, to HK$384.6. BANK OF CHINA 0flat to HK$3.96. LENOVO GROUP jumped HK$1.34, or 13.16%, to HK$11.52.
